Transcendence:
Knowing and Demonstrating
Your High Soul Nature
“If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite.” - William Blake
Life on earth can seem so fragile and fleeting.
The word ‘seem’ is a key one, however. As Blake’s quote indicates, when we accurately perceive reality clearly, we realize that life is infinite—even when it seems otherwise.
And that one realization changes the entire ballgame.
The seventh key is really very simple: you are an indestructible soul. At your absolute core, you are an eternal spiritual being, a transcendent being of energy.
The implications of this key are earthshaking. You can handle any challenges that arise because you are soul proof, just as a fine watch is water proof or shock proof. Your real self cannot be hurt or destroyed.
Don was a vibrantly happy and healthy sixty year old patient who appeared to be the epitome of well being. He adored his wife and family, regularly exercised, enjoyed his work and ate healthfully from his huge garden. He received regular alternative and orthodox health care, and enjoyed a close relationship with God. Don was always smiling, energetic and grateful for the richness of his life.
Then he began developing symptoms and was eventually diagnosed with brain cancer. The last time I saw him, he was bloated, bald, and weakened from the disease and chemotherapy. He wept openly as he talked about how much he would miss his wife, children and grandchildren. He died a few weeks later.
I’ve seen only a few cases like his in thirty-five years of working in health care fields. Sudden premature death is usually rare in someone so healthy and happy. Maybe he had been exposed to harmful toxins, chemicals or radiation. Negative genetic factors might have been expressed despite his exemplary lifestyle.
Or maybe it was just his time to transition into the next life experience. We can’t know for sure why he passed on so quickly, but his was a beautiful demonstration of a life well-lived. A reunion with his loved ones will certainly occur in a blink of an eye in spirit time.
The good news is that even seeming tragedies like his and so many others make sense from an enlightened perspective. There’s a greater transcendent reality, a spiritual foundation that permeates life and death.
As such, even death and dying can be an adventure. I know that may sound odd but it’s true. With a spiritual perspective, the greatest change in life can be just another phase in eternity—not an end but a new beginning.
I know how difficult it is at times to grasp this good news.
As I write this, my dad —one of my best friends—died last week. He was always larger than life, happy, positive, and a great role model. He helped many people in many ways and was adored by his family. I feel sad and will greatly miss seeing and hugging him. However, my spiritual faith and knowledge lightens my grieving and I celebrate his graduation to the next phase of life.
I’ll continue to talk with him in spirit and listen for his replies. I know that only his outer shell fell away. Everything else—his love, huge heart, and rascal personality—continues on. I have no doubt that I will see him again.
What a gift to be able to go through life’s toughest times with trust, not fear. That’s why knowing and cultivating your transcendent aspect is so important.
